John Cheburet, Radio Manager

John Cheburet a journalist and communications professional. He has over 10 years experience producing agriculture, environment and related content for radio, farmer magazines and materials to support agriculture extension. Mr Cheburet holds a B.Mus degree from Maseno University and a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism. He is passionate about youth in agriculture, dry land farming and the connection between politics, leadership and policy in the agriculture sector.

Having reported on the farming across diverse communities in Kenya, he now has interest on how has keen interest in the development of agriculture in arid and semi-arid areas in Kenya and African taking into account changing climatic patterns and increasing populations.

John Cheburet spearheads the dissemination of ecologically sound farming technologies and practices for the benefit of smallholder farmers using broadcast media. His duties include supporting Community Outreach for the expansion of the novel Push-Pull Technology in Malawi and Zambia. 

John’s responsibilities include; leading the planning of TOF-Radio project, overseeing and facilitating the consistent production of high quality radio programmes, creating synergies with other Biovision FCP communicational channels, strengthening the TOF’s Social media presence and the documentation and reporting on radio project activities.

He also has interest in the use of social media and social networking tools, particularly their use to exchange information, experiences and knowledge among young farmers.

Musdalafa Lyaga, Radio Assistant

Musdalafa Okello Lyaga an award winning Journalist who holds a B.A degree in Media Journalism and Creative Writing from Namasagali University in Uganda.

Prior to joining BvAT, Musdalafa worked with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.

Musdalafa has also been involved in documentary and features video production for charity and has produced over 10 Farmer to farmer training videos for icipe, Access Agriculture, CABI, SNV Dry-Dev program.

Given his vast experience, Musdalafa is charged with developing content through research with farmers for both Radio and Video documentaries. Specific tasks include script writing, interviewing, filming, voicing and editing.

Charles Kimani, Radio Production Assistant

Charles is a trained TV and Radio Production specialist with over 7 years’ experience in both private and NGO sectors.

His experience includes; KOCH FM as a Radio presenter and producer, Farm Concern International as Sounds/Videographer on Kenya Livestock Development Programme Documentaries, and Camera operator with AFMA Studios.

Charles holds certificates in TV production, radio production and documentary production. He has a Diploma in Business Administration from Nairobi Technical Training Institute.

Sharon Chebet, Radio Intern

Sharon Chebet is a Fourth-Year student at The University of Nairobi, pursuing Bachelor of Science in Management of Agroecosystem and Environment. Sharon is passionate about conservation, especially sustainable agriculture. Says her passion is attributed to the increasing rates of land degradation and the rampant environmental pollution that threatens the wellbeing of the future generations.

At Biovision Africa Trust she is involved in;

Conducting rapid surveys on the impact of Farmer Communication pathways in adapting to organic farming in Kenya, particularly linkages between communication and conversion to organic farming.

Analysis of The Organic Farmer (TOF) Feedback to determine and respond to user needs.

Review and identification of effective communication pathways for Youth in Agriculture.
